Office Naturalized Garden
In 2013, AET celebrated Earth Day by planting a naturalized garden in front of our office. The garden area was originally covered with large stones; these were removed and replaced with deep layers of soil and mulch. It was a fun team-building activity for the staff and a welcomed beautification for our office environment. The garden features native plant species that are adapted to the local environment. The plants do not require application of pesticides or herbicides, which prevents the release of toxic chemicals into our surroundings. The native species also do not require large amounts of watering. For any watering that is needed, we use water from a rain barrel that stores rainwater run-off from the roof.
