AET Group Inc. Recognized as One of Canada’s Greenest Employers 2021

April 19, 2021

We are honoured to announce that AET was recognized as one of Canada’s Greenest Employers 2021. Now in its 14th year, Canada’s Greenest Employers is an editorial competition organized by the Canada’s Top 100 Employers project. This special designation recognizes the employers that lead the nation in creating a culture of environmental awareness in their organizations. These employers have developed exceptional sustainability initiatives – and are attracting people to their organizations because of their environmental leadership. Each employer is evaluated by the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers in terms of:

  1. the unique environmental initiatives and programs they have developed;
  2. the extent to which they have been successful in reducing the organization’s own environmental footprint;
  3. the degree to which their employees are involved in these programs and whether they contribute any unique skills; and
  4. the extent to which these initiatives have become linked to the employer’s public identity, attracting new employees and clients to the organization.

“The strength of this competition has always been in providing practical examples of what’s possible,” says Richard Yerema, Managing Editor of the Canada’s Top 100 Employers project. “We can all play a role in building sustainable futures, both for ourselves and the generations to come. This year’s winners demonstrate the importance of individual action as well as the greater impact of collective contributions.”

Sustainability is at the forefront of AET’s culture, and we are committed to conducting our business in a manner that has a positive impact on the communities in which we live and work.  AET was recognized in the 2021 competition due to our commitment to sustainable community initiatives including our 1% For The Trees program and involvement in Sustainable Waterloo Region’s annual Carbon Cleanse, internal sustainability programs including our Telecommuting Policy; Sustainable Transportation Rebate Program; and Staff Relocation Assistance Program, and the extensive green renovations and addition completed on our head office that was certified as a Net Zero Carbon Building from the Canada Green Building Council, including a 15.45 kWh roof and awning-mounted solar photovoltaic system that generates 106% of the energy needed to operate the building and on-site EV charging stations. “AET Group is a company that leads by example, investing in leading-edge green technology and is committed to engaging the entire organization in sustainability initiatives,” said Scott Freiburger, Managing Director & CEO at AET Group.  “Even as we work through challenging times, we continue to set and meet aggressive sustainability goals and targets.  Being recognized as one of Canada’s Greenest Employers for the 3rd year in a row confirms that we are delivering on our commitments to be an environmentally responsible company making a positive difference in our local communities.”
