GHG Inventory and Reduction Opportunity Assessment

MPAC is the largest assessment jurisdiction in North America, responsible for assessing and classifying more than 5 million properties in Ontario. In 2018, AET Group was retained by MPAC to develop and manage the organization’s corporate GHG inventory and identify GHG reduction opportunities. MPAC’s GHG inventory includes Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions from energy consumption in dozens of MPAC offices located across Ontario and hundreds of corporate fleet vehicles. MPAC’s GHG inventory also includes a number of Scope 3 GHG sources including employee air travel, rental car fuel use, and office paper consumption. AET Group identified a range of GHG reduction opportunities for consideration by MPAC. Each reduction opportunity identified by AET Group was categorized against several ranking criteria including potential GHG reduction to be realized, implementation cost, payback period.
